Local Sourcing: A Community Focus
Proudly boasting a 2AA Rosette, our kitchen is deeply committed to local sourcing.
We ensure our ingredients are not only fresh and seasonal but also ethically sourced. Collaborating with nearby farmers, gamekeepers, and north Norfolk fishermen, we actively support our local community and work towards reducing our carbon footprint. As proud members of The Sustainable Restaurant Association, we're recognised for our environmental initiatives and continually strive for improvement.
Discover Our No-Dig Garden
Our no-dig garden is a key element in our local sourcing strategy, providing a seasonal supply of fruits and vegetables that significantly influence the flavours and creativity of our kitchen. By cultivating our own produce, we achieve zero food miles from garden to plate, underlining our commitment to organic cultivation and waste reduction.
The philosophy behind our no-dig garden centres on preserving the natural balance and health of the soil. Rather than disrupting the soil ecosystem with intensive digging, we leave it largely undisturbed, allowing the soil life beneath to thrive. This approach supports the healthy growth of our plants, contributing to the vitality of our gardens.
Annually, we enrich our soil with homemade, organic, nutrient-rich compost made from our own green waste. This practice boosts the soil's health, ensuring that the fruits and vegetables we grow are not only flavourful but also packed with nutrients. We believe in providing only the best ingredients for our guest's plates, where quality and sustainability go hand in hand.
Our Gardens: Enhancing Biodiversity
The recent introduction of our wild meadow garden is another milestone in our sustainability journey. This beautiful addition to our grounds plays a crucial role in enhancing local biodiversity. It serves as a sanctuary for wildlife, alongside our Farmhouse beehives and insect hotel, fostering a thriving ecosystem. These efforts reflect our commitment to the environment and biodiversity, an essential part of our sustainable hospitality here at The Farmhouse at Redcoats.
